Big Brothers & Sisters of Brandon adds new program
Big Brothers & Sisters of Brandon is proud to announce the acquisition of an exciting new program called "Big for a Day". The program is designed to provide volunteers who want to become involved with the unique opportunity to be paired with a child for a single community event. The children involved in the program will be children who are waiting for a Big Brother, Big Sister or a Big Couple. The program is designed for people with busy lifestyles, but who want to get involved and make a difference in the life of a youth.
The "Big for a Day" program has been run successfully in other parts of Canada. The program was created to assist the youth who wait for a Big for up to 4 years. It also takes into account the person who wants to volunteer, but has a limited schedule and only has time for an occasional event.
All volunteers must still complete the screening process in advance, but once completed they are ready to go and all it takes is a phone call 24 hours in advance and Big Brothers & Sisters will find a youth in the program who would like to accompany them.
