Responsibilities of the Board

  • Develop, review and change, if required, the agency's governing documents (by-laws) etc.
  • Assure agency's financial stability
  • Make policy decisions regarding programs
  • Recruit others to help carry out the board's work
  • Keep the long range plan and the business plan up to date and relevant
  • Assure sound personal policies and practices are developed and implemented

Responsibilities of the Individual Board Member

  • Regularly attend scheduled board meetings and participate in a meaningful way
  • Participation in at least one working group
  • Take part in board training opportunities that may be provided
  • Become knowledgeable about agency services and recruit prospective volunteers
  • Participate in fund development initiatives
