Making a difference is easier than you might think. All you need is a few hours a week to spend time with a young person.
If you answer "YES" to any of the questions below we think you would make a great mentor.
• Like to eat pizza and/or ice cream
• Know a few silly jokes
• Able to laugh your head off
• Like to watch movies
• Know great spots to hike, bike or rollerblade
• Think half the fun of going to a baseball game is to eat the hotdogs
At Big Brothers and Big Sisters we spend a lot of time making sure our matches are a "good fit" - this means that if you love hockey, we'll match you with a young person who loves hockey; if you like to do crafts while listening to your favourite band, you can do that too.
Our Programs are about building friendships. As a volunteer your primary responsibility is to have fun and to be a friend. All of the wonderful benefits that the youth in our program experience just happen naturally. The impact of a caring adult role model in these early years will last a lifetime.
