Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarington is committed to providing the highest
quality volunteer based mentoring programs to the children of Clarington.
Our Vision
Every child in Clarington who needs a mentor, has a mentor.
We’re Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarington. We believe every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential, both as individuals and citizens – and that by doing so, they will not only do well, they will also do good. We believe that by changing the course of young lives we can in turn be changing the course of a community’s future. That it could lead to a reduction in poverty and unemployment. Or to safer schools and neighbourhoods. Or to a renewed optimism for growth. That it could even lead to change on a broader, more far-reaching scale. We believe that opening a child’s eyes to what is – opens their mind to what could be.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is about the power of friendship. The Bigs and Littles in our program experience the magic of everyday moments when they are shared with a friend. Everyone needs someone to laugh with, share dreams with and just hangout with. With friends, it's the little things that mean the most.
As an independent agency, BBSC has become an integral part of the community, adapting dynamic and innovative youth mentoring programs to meet local community needs. By tailoring our programs to focus on prevention, not intervention, the friendships that are possible through BBSC help guide children in Clarington in the right direction through the choices they make in life.
Currently we have 200 volunteers serving over 350 children through our mentoring programs including one-to-one traditional matches, in-school mentoring, couples matches, big bunch group mentoring, Go Girls, Game On, after-school programming and our Champions of Change Leadership Day Camp.
