Big Brother and Big Sister Volunteers Honoured at
37th Annual Banquet & Awards Night

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Cornwall and District recognized its Big Brother, Big Sister, and mentor volunteers at its 37th annual banquet and awards night held on Saturday October 23rd at the City Limits Spotlight Hall.

Bill Makinson, President of the local agency recognized the hard work and dedication of the members of the Board and Staff. He thanked everyone involved in making Big Brothers and Big Sisters such a successful organization.

1st Vice President D'Arcy Grant recoginzed some of our supporters who were special invitees of the evening: TV Cogeco, Value Village and Benson.

Executive Director Amanda Brisson thanked all volunteers for being a BIG piece of the puzzle.  This helps the kids put together their complicated puzzle by lending them a heart, time and passion for life.

This year's guest speaker,Ron Graham  was a former Little Brother and is still very much in touch with his former Big Brother Wilf Tyo.  Ron also became a Big Brother and served on our Board of Directors.

Presentation of service awards to Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and mentors were a special highlight of the evening.

BIG SISTER OF THE YEAR 2010

The 2010 Big Sister of the Year is Cindy Latreille.  She has been matched with her Little Brother for the past 4 years.  They enjoy many activities and her Little Brother stated he does not want a Big Brother, just her.

BIG BROTHER OF THE YEAR 2010

The 2010 Big Brother of the Year is D'Arcy Grant.  He had been involved with our agency for the past 15 years as a Big Brother and is the first BB to recieve this award twice.  He also serves on our Board of Directors.

HONOURARY BIG SISTER OF THE YEAR 2010

The 2010 Honourary Big Brother/Sister of the Year is Cynthia Seguin.  She has been an active member of our agency for the past 8 years.  She identifies closely with the mission of our agency to assist young people in need to achieve their full potential.
