Just like the previous day, Day 3 of the EDULINX Mentoring Awareness Tour started with a TV interview in Alberta’s capital. Edmonton’s GLOBAL Morning hosted Donovan for a lengthy segment, during which Donovan was able to speak about the importance of mentors in his life, and how crucial mentors are to the healthy development of all Canadian children. A fabulous end to a fabulous leg of the tour. From Edmonton it was off to Regina for yet more media. First was a radio appearance on Z99, Regina’s most popular radio station. Then it was off to CJME AM 980, whose broadcast reaches the entire province. On both occasions Donovan shone, and delivered the mentoring message with passion and conviction. Big Brothers of Regina Executive Director Dan Harder then played host to Donovan on Access Communications’ cable show, which reaches 90,000 homes in Regina. The 10 minute segment went exceedingly well, and gave exposure to the Tour on Regina TV.
After checking in at his hotel, Donovan was then whisked away to the 17th Annual Big Brothers of Regina Dinner and Auction. The event was sold out, and raised oodles of money. Although the final tally is not yet in, the autographed video of Donovan’s Atlanta gold medal race raised $1,500 all on its own.
Raising mentoring awareness and money in unprecedented ways - a clear sign that the third day of the Tour was another stellar success!
