  • Children affected by bullying are at risk of serious emotional, behavioural, and relationship problems.
  • It’s important to be aware of the signs that a child is bullying or has been bullied, and take action to help them.
  • Encourage your mentee to report bullying, as this is the first step to stopping it.
  • Help your mentee deal with bullying by providing a listening ear, building their confidence, fostering positive interactions with peers, and setting a good example.
  • Look for opportunities to give advice, tips and guidance related to bullying.
  • Talk with your program staff about bullying. Together you can develop strategies, and also discuss when what appears to be bullying might be abuse.
