National Youth Summit

By hosting this joint event, we hope to offer young leaders from across the country the opportunity to advance their leadership, communication and inter-personal skills while learning more about some of the issues that we care about so deeply within the Big Brothers Big Sisters network. The Summit will be our opportunity to learn and benefit from our program participants opinions and experiences. Here are the details on the Summit:

When: July 3-6, 2008

Who: We are looking for 22 young leaders, currently between the ages of 16 and 19 and were (or are) Littles in the traditional mentoring program.

One Little Brother and One Little Sister from each province and territory

How to apply?

Applicants can download the application online through www.bbbsalumni.ca or by obtaining the application through your agency
Deadline for submissions is May 1, 2008.

The summit is an intense week-long program for young people from around the country to have the chance to learn tons of new leadership skills, explore social issues with guest speakers and meet other incredible youth who have also been part of the mentoring movement in their communities. There is no fee to attend the summit and accepted participants will benefit from an all-expense paid, innovating and inspiring weekend.

Each applicant will be asked to submit their entry, responding to their choice of 6 topics, relating to their BBBS experience. Applicants can submit their entry by DVD (max of 5 minutes) or by written format, i.e. essay, poem, song, etc (max of 500 words).

Please feel free to forward the application to Little Sisters and Little Brothers whom you feel will benefit from the Summit or believe may be interested in attending.
