Another Successful Queen’s Park Reception!

Hosting the reception again this year was the Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Children and Youth Services and MPP for London North Centre.  Mr. John Tory, Leader of the Ontario PC Party and Gilles Bisson, MPP (NDP) for Timmins James Bay represented their respective parties as speakers.

The night was highlighted by celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and a recognition piece was awarded to the Foundation for its generous support of Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies in Ontario.  Ms. Helen Burstyn, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Foundation was on hand to accept the award. 

Bill Adams, a National Board member also gave a memorable speech.  Thank you again Bill!

Prior to the reception, meetings were held with various MPPs, Ministers and Senior Bureaucrats.   Issues discussed in these meetings include the expansion of the Go Girls program; the development of a similar program for boys; newcomer mentoring; and mentoring opportunities for children in care. 

A thank you goes out to all agencies for their participation in the meetings and for attending the reception.
