Professor awarded for $300,000 donation to Windsor

September 18, 2015

“It is so much more fun to give while you live,” said retired University of Windsor business professor Dave Wilson, who was on-site during the formal unveiling of a new outdoor pavilion his donation helped build.

Dave cut the ribbon to open the new pavilion behind the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Windsor location on September 18, 2015 - Big Brother Big Sister Day.

Dave says his only worry about the recognition is perhaps that others might see his generosity and think the organization doesn’t need others to make their own contributions. Half of his donation went into capital improvements, like the pavilion, landscaping and an added parking area at the organization’s Jefferson Boulevard location, while the other half is being invested in existing and expanded programming for the young people of Windsor.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the foundation and agency. Dave’s generous gift will provide countless opportunities for us, our volunteers and the children and families who benefit from our mentoring programs. His dedication to the mentoring movement and our community is truly inspiring”, said Hayley Morgan, the BBBS Windsor Foundation's Executive Director.
