Mentoring Matters at Westjet

cares_4_kids_RGB_150pxOn September 30, 100 youth from Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across Canada had the amazing opportunity to job shadow WestJet staff at 28 airports coast to coast, as well as WestJet Calgary’s Headquarters.

WestJet’s Mentoring Matters Day was a unique experience which allowed youth to go behind the scenes and work alongside WestJet flight crew, customer care agents, aircraft mechanics, and more. Some even had the opportunity to meet with pilots on the flight deck, try out flight simulators, and to see what it takes to run an airline at their Operations Control Centre. This unique experience allowed the youth to explore possible career options in aviation that they might have not otherwise considered.

This special day was also an opportunity for WestJet staff to learn more about Big Brothers Big Sisters programs and the youth we mentor, and to inspire individuals to volunteer as a Big Brother or Big Sister.

We are thrilled to have a partner like WestJet who believes as we do in the positive impact of mentoring and we are thankful for their support through the WestJet Cares for Kids program.
