Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lethbridge would like to send out congratulations to Little Sister Marrisa who is a recipient of the 2011 CIBC Youth Vision Scholarship, valued up to $36,000. Marrisa will also have summer internship at the YMCA of Lethbridge. This Scholarship is awarded to only 30 recipients across Canada. Not only has Marrisa been awarded the CIBC Youth Vision Scholarship, but she has been selected to receive a Neil Morgan Volunteer Award for her extensive volunteer work within the Lethbridge community.Marrisa came to Big Brothers Big Sisters in September of 2001 when she was six years old. Marrisa had said she would like a Big Sister who was fun, nice, and would do stuff with her. At the time Marrisa's favorite activities were playing with Barbie’s and going to the park. Marrisa met Big Sister Lisa in November of 2002. Lisa thought that she would be able to be a positive role model and someone that a child could call on if they needed to talk. They have had many different experiences together and are currently the longest match of the Lethbridge Agency! From the beginning of the match Marrisa and Lisa have been dedicated to giving back to the community by volunteering their time at the Humane Society. Marrisa has also volunteered with Project Paintbrush and at the Hospital. Lisa has made a significant impact on Marrisa by providing her with guidance, reliability and most importantly friendship! Congratulations to Marrisa and Lisa for building a special relationship which has resulted in a significant achievement towards Marrisa's education and career path.
