Seniors Sharing
Seniors become mentors or “school grandparents” to young students providing unconditional attention with a desire to encourage young people to reach their full potential.
Seniors are given the opportunity to share their wisdom of life experiences, talents and skills with children.
Commitment?
Grandparent In-School Mentoring program requires 1 -2 hours a week.
The In-School Mentoring program requires a minimum 1 year commitment (Sept-Jun).
Some exceptions can be made
When are you available?
In-School mentors meet during school hours Mon-Fri 9am-3:30pm.
Where do our kids come from?
Children referred to the program are those who their teacher and/or school counselor have identified as children who would benefit from additional 1-1 attention and guidance.
The goal of the program is to help improve the child’s self-esteem to help him/her function more productively academically, behaviorally and/or socially.
Who can mentor?
- No maximum age
- Any gender
- Any profession
- Grandparent experience not a pre-requisite
