You’ve Been Chickened!
Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Lethbridge & District
For the 8th year running, 2012 Baby Chicks will be helping Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lethbridge & District raise money.
Years ago, we came up with this new approach to fundraising. “The idea was presented to the Board of Directors and we latched onto it,” says Rick Austin, the Lethbridge Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters. “All we need is volunteer drivers and the promotion almost takes care of itself.”
In the last seven years, Big Brothers Big Sisters have seen over $48,000 come into their organization through this fund raiser. “It’s a lot of fun and the simplicity of the concept makes it easy to execute” says Austin.
It all starts with baby chicks being delivered to the first recipient and after gathering a donation, the chicks are then sent on to whomever that person wants to wish a "Happy Easter". The chicks are kept warm on their travels and they are fed, watered and spelled off regularly. “We buy 50 chicks, but only half will be on the road at any one time. When the promotion is done, we have a farm for them to go to.” The first delivery will leave our office on April 2nd, 2012.
Big Brothers Big Sisters matches youngsters for whom a responsible adult in their lives would be an asset.
We are looking for volunteer drivers. The shifts are the same
as last year with volunteers going out in the morning and other
volunteers going out in the afternoon. If you would like
to drive some "chicks" around, please contact our office
