Executive Director Position Summary
We are currently seeking a dynamic leader to join our team. The Executive Director reports to a Board of Directors and effectively manages a staff complement of five in order to fulfil the agency’s mission which is to help children in need make healthy life choices through positive mentoring. The agency provides mentoring services to approximately 200 children and derives its funding from the community.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the agency in keeping with the agency’s policies and Standards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada
- Create strong community partnerships to enhance services to children & volunteers
- Follow sound fiscal procedures to ensure agency’s financial stability & growth
- Maintain effective communications with Board, Staff and other Stakeholders
- Develop and implement effective fundraising plans and marketing strategies
- Build & maintain an organizational culture that is mission focussed
- Act as spokesperson for the organization, including conducting official correspondence on behalf of the board and agency where appropriate
Requirements - Successful completion of a Human Services or Business Degree/Diploma and/or demonstrated relevant work experience
- Track record in the development and execution of fundraising initiatives (beyond special events
- Experience in managing staff
- Ability to work with a volunteer Board of Directors
- Knowledge and understanding of the not-for-profit sector, voluntary sector and of the agency
- Strong leadership skills
- Demonstrated sound judgment skills
- Demonstrated skills in marketing
- Financial management skills
- Expertise in communications both written and verbal ie: public speaking
- Familiarity with Northumberland County
- Avid interest in children’s welfare
