Northumberland Big Sisters Big Brothers will be presented with a cheque from the Chris Garrett Classic Golf Tournament today.

The donated proceeds from the golf tournament are to go towards the Chris Garrett scholarship.  This is a scholarship offered by Northumberland Big Sisters Big Brothers’ to assist youth from their program with post secondary studies in law enforcement.

Little Brother Tyler was the first recipient of the scholarship in 2005.  Tyler is enrolled in the police foundations program in Thunder Bay and very honoured to be the first recipient of this award and even more honoured to help carry on Chris Garrett’s memory by becoming a Police Officer. 

The generous donation of the proceeds from the Chris Garrett Golf Tournament is a greatly appreciated gift that is felt throughout Northumberland Big Sisters Big Brothers and that deeply impacts the lives of the little sisters and brothers in our program.

Thank-you so much for your generosity, in donating the scholarship in Chris Garrett’s name to myself, to go toward my college education.The funds will surely help pay for my books this semester as well as next.

I was very honoured to be the first recipient of this award, and even more so to help carry on Chris’ memory, in becoming a Police Officer.This is something I have always dreamed of, and with your help, I know I will succeed.

Again, thank-you so much, for all your involvement in my life over the last 8 years, I know someday I will become a Big Brother, so I can give back everything!
