In School Mentoring
It’s not about homework! This is a program that takes place at the child’s school, during the school day. The In-School Mentor spends 1 hour a week enjoying a fun activity or just talking with their mentee. We encourage employers to give their employees the time during the work day to volunteer…studies show that employees who volunteer perform better on the job! This program is available to Seniors, men, women, university students and anyone else who has an interest in making a difference in a child's life.
Here in Saint John and surrounding communities we have over 50 children in 11 schools who are enjoying the benefits of this program. In Charlotte County, we have over 40 children in 6 schools involved in the program. It is a fun and rewarding experience for mentees and the volunteer mentors!
Cecile Matheson is the Mentoring Coordinator in charge of this program and you can reach her at our office on the 3rd level of Brunswick Square. In Charlotte County, please contact Dolores Borthwick at 755-2002.
Our office hours are Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm
