Give the Gift of Friendship

 MatchMaker logo

A MatchMaker is a person, company, organization or group, including friends and co-workers, who financially support a traditional Big & Little match in Lunenburg and QueensCounties. It’s an easy way for someone to have a direct impact in the life of a local child!

A contribution of $1200 can help create and support a ‘match’ between a child and an adult volunteer for one year. Your $1200 donation will cover all the costs associated with a match including recruitment materials, advertising, volunteer enrolment, screening, application processing, resource materials, monitoring and documentation, follow-up and on-going support by our professional staff.

Your company, your family, your club…anyone can stand behind a match. You can make a one-time donation of $1200, or you can make a monthly donation of $100 for one year. Either way your support will make a BIG difference to a child. For each new match you make you will receive a personalized match profile of the Big/Little relationship you helped create, a charitable tax receipt, a plaque identifying you as a MatchMaker supporter, and recognition in regional publications and website. More importantly you receive the knowledge that you helped improve the life of a child who needs a mentor.

Think of someone who impacted your life by believing in you…and who encouraged you to believe in yourself. This is the gift of sponsoring a match of a local child with a volunteer mentor and role model!

"Over the years we have employed a lot of young people at our Market and at the farm.  We have had kids with very supportive parents and others with little.  In many ways the security of the work and the consistency of the relationship we had with these kids was the most stable part of their lives, I am afraid to say.  We have seen the benefits to the kids of fostering strong relationships with them when parental support is lacking.  We  know the reasons for these adults being unable to fulfill the full extent of their parenting responsibiltiies is complex and multifacited. We also know there is a great need here in our community and without all of us taking some ownership in solving the problems nothing is going to change.  We know the work of Big Brothers, Big Sisters.  It is a credible, highly professional organization with a track record of good work.  We are happy to support your work as you continue to find matches."
