The mission of Heartland Youth Center is "to develop and nurture the lifeskills of youth through community based programming with the support of families and volunteers"

Programming is preventative.

Big Brothers Big Sisters:

- Every child benefits by having adult role models. Children from single parent families have fewer opportunities to develop these types of relationships, particularly with same gender role models, and the parents in these families are under a greater stress in attempting to provide for the emotional needs of their children. The "Big" becomes a friend and role model to the child, which in turn supports the family structure.

Boys and Girls Club

- Creates an environment of positive role models. Offers stimulating activities and structured challenges that build personality and character. Offers opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge, and values to become fulfilled individuals.
