Boys and Girls Club - After-School Programs  Ages 6-18

Check out our Important Dates for Club events, HYC special events etc.

DROP IN PROGRAMS 

 

Drop In
Mondays 3:30-6:00pm(Early Dismissals 2:30) 
Thursdays - Teen Drop In Ages 12-18years only 3:30 - 6:00pm   
Fridays 2:30 - 6:00pm   
$20 per year for current members 

Due to some program changes, the following programs will now run as part of Drop-In. They no longer require pre-registration or seperate fees!

Mondays

Games Galore - examples include board games, bingo, face painting, Lego competitions, Pictionary and scavenger hunts.

Fridays

Sportsation - Try new physical activities and develop fundamental movements for a variety of sports.  Examples include floor hockey, soccer, kick boxing, volleyball and yoga.                                                

Craft Corner
Fridays 6-8 yrs of age 3:00-4:00pm  9-12 yrs of age 4:00-5:00pm
Make cool crafts to take home for your family and friends. Come discover new artistic talents. 

Homework Help
Mondays and Fridays for ages 6-12
A supervised place to work on homework where help is available one-on-one.

CLUB PROGRAMS

Spotlight (6-12 years) Mondays, January 9 - March 19   6-9 years 3:45-5:30pm
A chance for kids to have fun with reading, writing and acting. Activites include making their own story books, visits from storytellers and putting on skits. $20 per year for current members.

Boost (6-8years) Mondays 3:30-6:00pm
Boost is a program that uses group activities, crafts and games to boost self-esteem and confidence in children. Healthy snacks and a fitness break are provided daily. $20 per year for current members

Weird Science (9-12y ears) Mondays 3:30-6:00pm
Weird Science is a program for youth to explore the wacky and sometimes messy side of science and technology. Make slime, plaly on computers and develop zany experiments. $20 per year for current members

Art Attack (9-18 years) Tuesdays 3:30-6:00pm
Art Attack runs in sessions as listed below.  Each session will focus on developing a specific art them and has a program fee that reflects the costs of supplies for each activity.  Healthy snacks and a fitness break are provided daily.
Painting, Scrapbooking, Jewelry making , Pottery, Sketching & drawing $TBA

Kid Power (6-8 years) Tuesdays 3:30-6:00pm
Kid Power is a supervised, structured program that provides activities, crafts and games to develop basic social skills (making friends, coopertation, and problem solving) and personal skills (coordination, patience and following instructions) Healthy snacks and a fitness break are provided daily. $30 per year for current members   

Kids in the Kitchen (8-12 years) Tuesdays 3:30-6:00pm
Kids in the Kitchen runs in sessions as listed below.  Each session members will cook weekely recipes; learn about kitchen safety, healthy eating and develop cooking skills. $20 per session for current members

Session #3  Tuesdays, April 3- June 12

Boys Fit/ Girls Fit
 Boys Fit and Girls Fit are programs that provide the opportunity to "try out" a variety of physical activities.  The programs increase confidence; physical activity levels and provides some basic skills to participate in activities that are available in our communtiy. 
These programs are offered to children grades 5 - 8. They are programs offered jointly with HEaRT and are sponsored by Kidsport.
Girls Fit Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm January 25 - March 14 cost $10
Boys Fit Dates are TBA 

SERVICE CLUB PROGRAMS

Spark Club (Girls 9-12years) Wednesdays 3:30-6:00pm
Spark Club focuses on female role modeling, personal development and building the basics of volunteering in the community.  Activities include group games, service projects, field trips and lots of fun. $20 per year for current members 

Zone Club (Boys 9-11 years) Wednesdays 3:30-6:00pm
Zone Club focuses on male role modeling, personal development and building the basics of volunteering in the community.  Activities include group games, service projects, field trips and lots of fun. $20 per year for current members

 

 

                          TEEN PROGRAMS                        

Preregistration is required.  Teen programs require a commitment to regular attendance throughout the year.  These programs are free to members.

Torch Club (11-13 years) Thursdays 3:30-6:00pm
Service to club & community, fundraisers, education, career development, volunteering, senior visits, retreats, social & recreational activities such as trips & special events, personal & group development skills.

Keystone Club (13-18years) Wednesdays 7:00-9:00pm
Service to club & community, fundraisers, education, career development, volunteering, retreats, social &recreational activities such as trips & special events, personal & group development.

 

 

Junior Leaders (13-18years) Monday-Friday 3:30-6:00pm
Teens build leadership skills by volunteering regularly after school in the 6-12 year old programs - earn references & experience for future jobs!! Choose any day(s) or program(s) to suit your schedule.  Workshops and training will be a regular part of this program.  This program does not run on a drop in basis.  You must sign up.  Junior Leaders must attend ALL meetings Junior Leader meetings are the first Wednesday of every month.

 

Membership and Program Fees
HYC yearly membership - Individual $20, Family $45
After School Program fees - Individual $30, Family $50 (includes all after school programs)

Shuttle Service is offered Monday - Friday, bringing kids from school to the Heartland Youth Center Annual fee per child $20 Pre-registration required
A healthy snack is also provided each day.

Don't forget to sign the permission form for the Shuttle Van!

Heartland Youth Center also offers Holiday Programs Teachers Convention, Easter Eggcitement, Teen Trips, PD Days throughout the school year, and RAD (Summer Day Camps).
These programs may have additional fees to cover the costs of trips, snacks, program materials. Stay posted for upcoming information on these events.
