Constructive role modelling makes a positive impact on our children and youth, helping them to make good choices, thus leading to safer and stronger communities. Heartland Youth Center provides youth with ongoing and consistent support, friendship and positive reinforcement.

Numerous agencies and organizations throughout Alberta, including Heartland Youth Center, are involved in a new innovative project called the Alberta Mentoring Partnership. This partnership is part of Alberta's commitment to increase mentoring opportunities for our youth, and create safe communities.

The Alberta government, community youth representatives, and agencies are teaming up solely for the benefit of children. Improved family and peer relationships, increased confidence and self-esteem, enhanced school performance and attitudes are just some of the benefits that mentored children achieve.

Our goals include increasing the knowledge and awareness of mentoring programs, creating positive connections, and sharing resources. Although this partnership is still in the preliminary stages, we will soon be able to provide improved resources and training for volunteers, increased support and tool-kits for volunteers and organizations, as well as reduce the barriers for individuals wanting to volunteer.

Social marketing of the Alberta Mentoring Partnership started in September 2009 with the launch of video, magazine and web ads. Increasing awareness about our programs is the first step in achieving our mission; That every child in Alberta who needs a mentor, has a mentor.
