We believe all young people can grow into responsible, contributing and self-reliant members of society. Children and youth are at the centre of everything we do. Through adventure, play and discovery, we encourage and empower them to develop healthy lifestyles, a life-long passion for learning, leadership and life skills and a sense of social responsibility.
Our programs nurture confidence and self-esteem in children and youth and promote their healthy emotional and social development. They involve young people in activities that provide opportunities for personal expression, leadership, community involvement, volunteerism, planning, and decision-making. These programs focus on such things as the arts: music, drama, photography etc.; environmental, cultural and political awareness; outdoor adventures; summer camps; youth leadership and many others.
Youth leadership programs are popular at clubs across Canada. Their emphasis is on building character, good citizenship and developing the social, emotional and vocational abilities of youth. Our youth are encouraged to get involved in their communities and actively participate in making them better places to live. BGCC offers two national programs, Torch Clubs and Keystone Clubs for pre-teens and teens on which many clubs model their youth programs.
