In this program, a Big Sister is matched with a Little Sister in a one-to-one friendship.  After the match is made, you get down to creating a true friendship that will benefit a child…but you’ll also be surprised about how the friendship will make you feel great too.

Being a Big Sister is really simple. We'll match you with a young person who has similar interests. You'll have fun doing stuff you already know how to do, like playing a board game, fishing, cooking a meal, going to the park, riding a bike or simply talking. You can do just about anything together! For a few hours each week, you can be a kid again and make time for fun. Being a Big is simply about being a friend to a Little.

What is a Big Sister?

Essentially it is a friend who wishes to share a few hours of her time with a child from primarily a single-parent family, time spent in a wide range of activities that he or she arranges with the child. The association also organizes group activities to which members are invited.

How much time is necessary to invest in the relationship?

For traditional match-ups we ask 2 to 4 hours per week. A minimum commitment of one year is required, with a long-term outlook.

Who can become a Big Sister?

People who wish to become a Big Sister must be 18 years of age or older, be emotionally well-balanced, a positive role model, reliable and truly feel the desire to help a child.

Q. Why does your daughter need a Big Sister?

"She never gets to go out by herself. Bring her out of herself - she is quiet and shy."
"So she doesn't feel left out because she is the only girl in the family."
"Someone to talk to about her problems, a confidant."
"She needs a female to spend time with her/role model."
"She is so responsible being the oldest. She just needs to learn to have fun."
