BBBSC Wins Technology Award

Hot on the trail of winning a Merit Award in the Voluntary Sector IT category, presented by Showcase Ontario, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) has been awarded the 2006 DIAMOND AWARD in the category.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada submitted "Big Brothers Big Sisters Website Hosting" which covered our implementation of an agency website solution, our Member Agency Support Website, and www.ShareaLittleMagic.ca - our national volunteer recruitment website.

In their congratulatory letter, Geoffrey MacDougall, Director, Corporate Social Responsibilty for IT Assoc. of Canada and Joan Christensen, Executive Director of the Coalition of Ontario Voluntary Organizations stated: "As an award winner, your oganization and your winning project demonstrate the best of strategic technology implementation in the voluntary sector.

Your accomplishments provide an excellent example from which other organizations may learn. In addition, your work helps to demonstrate to the corporate and public sectors, as well as to the public at large, the value and quality of the technology-enabled activities being pursued in the voluntary sector."

Competition for this year's Showcase Ontario Merit Awards program was apparently quite vigorous, as judges evaluated and ranked almost 100 entries from all sectors in government, from ministries, agencies, crown corporations, municipalities and the broader public sector.

The single Diamond Award for the Voluntary Sector IT category was presented during a dinner ceremony held on September 26th at the Showcase Ontario trade show, the largest public sector education event in Canada.
