I approached BBBS last April to see if our daughter qualified-she is a wonderful , but extremely shy girl of 17 who had difficulty making friends since we moved here 2 years ago. Although just at the age limit, she was accepted and matched 8 weeks later with an incredible Big Sister that she could totally relate to. Now instead of sitting at home and watching TV and reading books- she goes with her new BFF (best friends forever) and slides, swims, goes roller blading and numerous other activities.

Her Big sister has made a tremendous difference in my daughter's life. Thank you for the bottom of our heart!

M (Big Sister) & T (little sister)

Over the past 7 months T and I have been matched together as a ‘Big’ and ‘Little’. We have had the opportunity to do numerous things together every week. We started off our first week mini golfing and enjoying Marble Slab and have continued to do things like horse back riding, swimming, bowling, quading, baking, watching movies and so much more.

It has been such a re-warding experience for me to watch T open up to me and enjoy every moment we spend together. I never realized how much joy a young girl could bring to my life and have been so blessed to have been paired with this remarkable individual. T tells me all the time how lucky she is to have me as her ‘Big Sister’ and how much she enjoys hanging out together.

It is words like these that make you realize the difference that you can make in someone’s life. I’m so honored to have officially joined Big Brothers and Sisters this past year and look forward to what the future has in store for us!

BBBS is the BEST thing that has happened to our family!! The confidence, self esteem and overall growth of my kids over the last few months is due to their BIGS!

Without BBBS I feel I would still be struggling with trying to give each child the attention they need. Now that they have 1 on 1 time with their BIGS, we are able to do things together as a family without the fight for my attention.

Thank you BBBS for helping my family to grow stronger and closer!!

Cassandra and I are doing so well together. It really couldn't have been a better match. So far, we have been out to the Crowsnest Pass (as you are aware of), been boating and swimming together at Stafford Lake, gone hiking at Indian Battle Park, seen New West Theatre's "All Fired Up!" and read a novel together. It has been so wonderful and I find that I always look forward to our visits and to learning more about my little sister.
Cassandra's family is great! We always have a good little visit after each meeting and they are so kind, supportive and compassionate.

I am finding that Cassandra is opening up more and more each meeting and that she is becoming quite comfortable with me, which is so awesome. We always give big hugs at the end of our time together. In many ways, it's great that we are so close in age because that way we can relate to one another really well. Cassandra has some wonderful life philosophies that she has shared with me and I am touched by her innocent nature. She has a great sense of humour and a real interest in historical artifacts, which is pretty interesting. All in all, she's a wonderful girl with a wonderful family and I couldn't be more happy with my match or with Big Brothers and Big Sisters for allowing volunteers to participate in such a fulfilling role.

My son has been part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for a couple of years, we have been very fortunate to have been matched with two amazing Big Couples.

I am a single mom who has suffered a major stroke in 2005, so, aside from coming from a sigle parent home, my son had to adjust to alot of other changes in his life, this really affected his behavior and his schoolwork.

Being a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program has had such a positive impact on my sons life and my life as well! His self esteem has improved greatly and hes doing much better in school.

He is a much happier kid and that has made life much more enjoyable for everyone involved! He is more willing to help out around the house and is more repectful towards me! I also find him making better choices when it comes to his peers etc.

I would also like to add that during the time that my son was on the waiting list for a Big Brother, he was able to attend the Kids and Cops camp and was often included in any other activities put on by Big Brothers, this always made the wait somewhat easier.

I can not stress enough how much of an impact Big Brothers Big Sisters has had on our lives!

I am so thankful that my son is a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, it has been somewhat of a life saver in so many ways!!!
