Bowl For Kids Sake 2012

Thank you to everyone who made this year's BFKS a success, together we raised over $114,000 with still more to come in!

We added an event this year in Charlotte County which raised almost $8,000 for programs and services in that area.

The top fundraising group, prize was awarded to J.D. Irving, Limited for their continued outstanding support. The top three highest fundraising teams were Stewart McKelvey, NBCC and Giant Tiger. The top two highest individual fundraisers were Betty Hitchcock and Barb Reicker. There was a new award this year for best team spirit for a newly recruited team which was presented to TD Canada Trust, West Branch.

Overall we had 45 new teams this year & roughly 500 bowlers in total attend over the course of the three events!

See you all next year... with another exciting theme!

Big Brothers Big Sisters in the Media

Here are a few news stories following up our press conference Monday September 12 to launch 1 Year 100 Men:

Thank You Mark Zelinski!

Mark Zelinski has generously donated 14 books to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John! Eight of these books are entitled 1 Small Flame, which is a collection of photographs that Zelinski has captured from more than 70 Roundsquare Schools, Outward Bound Centres, and United World Colleges worldwide to capture this true-life story of courage and hope.

This book displays the daily life in communities around the globe, thousands of students experience life-changing growth and engage in social and environmental service projects, charting new directions for a sustainable future. This is not just a story of hope. This is an epic. These books will be awarded to high school age children involved in our program.

Four copies of Zelinski’s From The Field were donated as well. These books are a collection of images taken over the course of 26 years which brings focus to the diversity within the manifested world of form as witnessed on the seven continents of Earth.

We have also been very fortunate to receive two copies of Zelinski’s book called Untitled. This book is very rare in the sense that it is not publicly sold. This is a book without any words which allows the pictures to tell the true story. Zelinski has distributed this book to children in third world countries, we are very fortunate to receive copies.

We are honoured to receive this donation and look forward to passing them on to our Littles.
